ACN SA were thrilled to be part of the Laureus Youth Empowerment through Sport initiative. Run by the South African Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, this is an annual project that gives 20 young people from sport for development projects across South Africa the opportunity to learn, develop and thrive over the course of 9 months. The programme starts with a personal and social development week on Nordhoek beach near Cape Town. Here the young people form strong bonds and learn from past mentors about the role sport for development can have in their communities and what role they can play. ACN SA were excited to train up former YES Graduates as Mentors and Leaders and supported them to run a programme of training that looked at personal resilience and the role of sport in building stable and cohesive communities. Nicole from ACN SA also ran an induction to the accredited Sport and Administration qualification in partnership with eta that all of the young people achieve by the end of the year. They are such an inspiring group and we can't wait to see how they all progress over the year.
